Fan Veil and Veil Poi Flow Workshops in Columbus, Ohio

Join us in Columbus, Ohio on June 17th, 2023 at the Church of the Sparkling Unicorn for two amazing workshops featuring two props newer to the belly dance and flow scenes.

More real talk, cause that’s where I’m at this week! 😂 We as performers mostly show you our glamorous personas. What you don’t see is our hours of prep time, years of training, and what we’re like at the grocery store. Maintaining the illusion has long been a part of being a performer. All this introspection to remind you, I wear sweats and no makeup to the grocery store like the rest of you. 😂 Have realistic expectations for yourselves and those around you. We’re all just awkward people trying to get through life.

Hey friends. Let’s get up close and personal. On September 3, I felt my left knee slide and felt the joint become very “loose” while performing. Since then, I’ve been unable to walk without crutches. I find out next Monday if I’m in for surgery or for intense physical therapy. I’ve suspended all performances for the foreseeable future. I’m doing my best to stay in good spirits. I’m working on some old sideshow skills to feel like I’m doing something. 😅 I’ll still be sharing some belly dance content because we know I’ve got years of unshared material. 😂 I’m down, I’m not out. Thanks for listening, friends. I really appreciate you!!

Ok, so I obsessed over getting this back piece rig

Ok, so I obsessed over getting this back piece right. For those who know, you know. For everyone else, this is Goku’s own symbol. There was only one flat image I was able to find for it. I used it to make a cut file, then cut it out of glittery vinyl and double stacked it. It really puts the icing on the preverbal cake. I’m super looking forward to embellishing the Dalek next!! What’s your next cosplay??

We all know I’m just a little obsessive when it comes to costuming. I wanted to create a prop with a big impact on the stage. I’ve been playing with different ways of using a fan veil thanks to @the_sass_dragon and @irinaakulenkodancer . I thought, what would be more fun than making my own and showcasing that experimentation?? So I did. 😁😁😁 what’s been a way you brought something you made to life??
